Walmart?

Brian and I made the executive decision to bypass Delaware, Maryland and Washington D.C. and head straight for Shenandoah National Park in Virginia. We were not able to take the ferry from Cape May over to Delaware when we wanted so we decided to hit the road. I'm not so sure it is great time to be visiting our nation's capital at the moment anyhow. Maybe next time.

We had a long day of driving and arrived outside the park around 1830. Most campgrounds in National Parks work on a first come, first serve basis and being so late we knew were were not likely to get a spot. And if you didn't know already, most Walmart stores allow you to park or camp overnight for free. So we picked a quiet spot in the corner of the parking lot and set up shop for the night. As much as I knock Walmart, and for good reason, it is just too damn convenient. A 24 hour super center? Forget it. We grabbed groceries and some cleaning supplies for the truck and whatever other miscellaneous items we needed. We left early the next morning, got fuel and propane and headed for the park.
