Cape May, NJ

Man, did we like Cape May. It was short trip from the Jersey Shore so we left Pat's house around 10 after grabbing a couple of enormous and delicious bagels from a local coffee shop. Driving down, we made a quick stop in Atlantic City. It was pretty much a ghost town. What happened Donald Trump?? Here are a few pictures..

We only spent one day in Cape May but I think we made the most of it. We stayed at Seashore Campgrounds, which wasn't on the water but relatively close to everything. We left the truck hooked up to make for an easy departure the next day. We took the bikes all around instead and we visited the Cape May Lighthouse as well as the bird sanctuary. To my dismay, we missed a tasting at the winery because of seasonal hours but we did have tasty seafood dinner in Cape May harbor on a schooner tied to the dock.

Other highlights:

  • Monarch butterflies - they were flying around everywhere, apparently they were on their way south to Mexico, a 2000 mile journey they make every year. Yikes.
  • Cape May Diamonds - definitely check this out.  We took home a small hand full.
  • Oystercatchers and two bald eagle sightings.
