Albuquerque to Santa Fe

Well, they say
that Santa Fe
Is less than ninety miles away,
And I got time to roll a number
and rent a car.
Oh, Albuquerque.

I've been flyin'
down the road,
And I've been starvin' to be alone,
And independent from the scene
that I've known.
Albuquerque.

So I'll stop when I can,
Find some fried eggs
and country ham.
I'll find somewhere where
they don't care who I am.
Oh, Albuquerque,
Albuquerque.

Neil Young's words trailed behind the truck as we drove north. Albuquerque is New Mexico's largest city, yet Santa Fe is the capital. We spent one night camping at an RV park across from a casino. I had never been to one, so while waiting for our laundry to dry, Brian and I went over to try our luck. Neither one of us are much for gambling but I played the slot machine for a few minutes and then we sat at a roulette table. We hit on 22 black and walked out with $134 that we didn't have before.

For any of you Breaking Bad fans out there, Albuquerque is where it all took place. We visited Walter and Skyler White's house and took the truck to the A1 Carwash, it is called something different but it was a really great carwash. We sampled a couple of the local breweries and then called it a night.

The next day we drove the 90 miles up to Santa Fe. Pueblo style houses lined the hill sides. The downtown area was really cute. We visited the Georgia O'Keeffe Museum, another one of my favorite artists, and brought home a couple prints of her paintings. The museum was also another stop on the show Breaking Bad. We enjoyed a rooftop lunch and then had a relaxing evening at home, which was at the Hyde Memorial State Park for the night.

Santa Fe:
Georgia's work station
Georgia's Horse Skull with White Rose
Rooftop lunch with pizza and beer at Draft Station
